At Shinsei we think it’s a great way to transition from a busy day to the afternoon and evening. In fact we hope that Chef Jeramie’s amazing small plates will be just the beginning of your Shinsei "izakaya adventure." We also of course suggest you tuck into some of Chef Shuji Sugawara's offerings from the sushi bar. Once you get into the “izakaya mindset,” the rest is easy and we hope you'll be enticed to make an evening of it and stay for dinner. That’s how you “izakaya”!  Kampai!

What is "izakaya"? | Izakaya-service at Shinsei in the Sakaya Lounge

Shinsei's own, admittedly arbitrary definition: a relaxing beautiful environment where chef-inspired gratis small plates are served along with sake, Japanese craft beer, wine or inventive cocktails. A place where you can linger with good friends, good food, and good drinks and let the cares of the day melt away. And that’s the most important part.
