Tale of transformation
The works of artist Lucrecia Waggoner are tales of travel, life long passion, inspiration, her family and global studies from Mexico City, France, Germany, Hong Kong, New York City, Santa Fe and of course Texas. The work installed at Shinsei – 'Kyoto' is reminiscent of cherry blossoms in the delicate hand-thrown porcelain shapes. Each porcelain element is a unique microcosm of beauty, some with iridescent applied palladium all brought together in an organic fashion through the incorporation of found wood from the artist's Texas ranch.
Lynae Fearing and I can't thank Lucrecia Waggoner enough for her beautiful installation at Shinsei! It is absolutely perfect! Kyoto is an incredible addition to our ongoing story of a decade of transformation.

About
Lucrecia Waggoner is a porcelain artist who makes one of a kind pieces. The dimensions and composition of her work range from large scale ornamental wall pieces to dynamic installations. The pieces are wheel-thrown, glazed and decorated with 22K gold leaf or other precious metals, like palladium, copper, sterling silver wire and oil paint.
Lucrecia's inspiration comes from her travels and things that she observes every day, things that to most of us seem mundane, become a source of beauty. Simplicity and minimalism in her works is a reflection of travel throughout the world and especially Asia. Raised in Mexico City, her first memory of ceramics is at age 7 while attending an arts and crafts course at the Museo de Antrpologia. She cites that as the beginning of her love for pottery.
Lucrecia's formal ceramic arts education began in Mexico City followed by further study in Europe and Parsons School of Design where a hobby became a driving passion and a way of life.
Lucrecia lives in Dallas with her husband John and children, Isabel and Daniel.
